VISIT OF H.E THE GOVERNOR AND CHIEF SCOUT OF GIBRALTAR SIR RICHARD LUCE

On Friday 11 June
1999 H.E The Governor and Chief Scout of Gibraltar Sir Richard
Luce paid a visit to the Gibraltar Sea Scouts at their
Headquarters at No 4 Dock. The Scouts Commissioner Alfred Reoch
and Asst Commissioner Salvador Baldachino accompanied H.E.
Group Scout Leader Elliot Cohen met him at the entrance to No 4.
During the visit he met Cubs, Scouts, Venture Scouts and their
respective Leaders and experienced at first hand some of the
activities undertaken during their weekly Troop meetings and
weekend boating sessions.
Whilst a section of the Troop were busy learning First Aid and
Map Reading other luckier Scouts and Venture Scouts were
practising their seamanship skills in their sailing dinghies,
power boats and canoes.
His Excellency took a keen interest in the activities
particularly the canoe rescue practised by the scouts.
His Excellency spent over an hour at their Headquarters and
before biding farewell addressed the whole of the Troop. He
departed to the skirl of the pipes of the ever-popular Gibraltar
Sea Scouts Pipe Band.
