VISIT OF H.E THE GOVERNOR AND CHIEF SCOUT OF GIBRALTAR SIR RICHARD LUCE

11th JUNE 1999

On Friday 11 June 1999 H.E The Governor and Chief Scout of Gibraltar Sir Richard Luce paid a visit to the Gibraltar Sea Scouts at their Headquarters at No 4 Dock. The Scouts Commissioner Alfred Reoch and Asst Commissioner Salvador Baldachino accompanied H.E.

Group Scout Leader Elliot Cohen met him at the entrance to No 4.

During the visit he met Cubs, Scouts, Venture Scouts and their respective Leaders and experienced at first hand some of the activities undertaken during their weekly Troop meetings and weekend boating sessions.

Whilst a section of the Troop were busy learning First Aid and Map Reading other luckier Scouts and Venture Scouts were practising their seamanship skills in their sailing dinghies, power boats and canoes.

His Excellency took a keen interest in the activities particularly the canoe rescue practised by the scouts.

His Excellency spent over an hour at their Headquarters and before biding farewell addressed the whole of the Troop. He departed to the skirl of the pipes of the ever-popular Gibraltar Sea Scouts Pipe Band.
